DYO #2: Fruit Fly Population Investigation

How does independent variable changing the numbers from male to female affect dependent variable the 2 of adults in 3 weeks ?

If you put 2 females and one male in a jar with a food source for 3 weeks i exspect to have 322 fruit fly's

Because fruit fly's lay 20 eggs a day . so by the second day they will have 40 baby's .
There's a lot of interesting things about fruit fly's their small the male has a black dark bottom ,and the female has a lighter one they live for 8 weeks and die under good conditions .
                                                   PROCEDURE
1) Pick the combination or fruit flies ,
2) We put the fruit fly to sleep with fly nap
3)Then determaning witch we put the food inside the jar
4)Record the results counts how many fruit fly's they are

post 12 this week in science (daphnia and introduced species)

This week in science we were invited from our class to go on the BioBus. There, we looked at one creature that was in a little bottle with liquid in it. Then the teacher took the creature out of the bottle and layed it on a white sheet of paper. We counted the heart beats. We counted how fast the heart beats in 10 seconds. We saw if the beat would change if we changed the number of seconds we counted the first time.
This week in science we learned where the creatures butt was and how its head is really really small. We also learned how sometimes in 10 seconds the heart makes 10 beats and then maybe the next second the heart beats about 12 or more so the beat changes. The creature can die really fast if it doesn't have water for a long time. It needs water.

This picture shows three Daphnia with eggs in them. I chose this picture because it was interesting because there were three of them and most pictures had only one.

THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE (ECOSYSTEMS)

THESE 2 WEEKS SIN SCIENCE WE LEARNED AND TALKED ABOUT THE ECOSYSTEMS !

I LEARNED THAT THE ECOSYSTEM IS A BIOLOGICAL ENVIORNMENT CONSPONENTS OF THE ENVIORNMENT WITH WITCH THE ORGANISMS INTERACT .

ANIMALS SUTCH A FISHES , AND MAINLY SEA ANIMALSS LIVE IN THE ECOSYSTEM .

THERES NOTHING I WORRIED OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT . I THINK IM GOOD (:

THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE (FRUIT FLYS PART 2)

THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE , WE MADE FRUIT FLY CHARTS !!!

THIS WEE LEARNED ABOUT FRUIT FLYSS AND WE MADE CHARTS ABOUT THEM , WHILE WE MADE CHARTS I LEARNED MOR ABOUT THE FRUIT FLYS..... ONE THING I LEARNED ABOUT THE FRUIT FLYS ARE THE FEMALES LAY 20 EGGS A DAY AND THEY ALSO STORE SPURM INSIDE THEIR BODYS .

IF THE FRUIT FLYS MATE , THE FEMALES ARE GOING TO HAVE 20 BABYSS . !!!!!

this week in science (fruit flys part 1)

THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT FRUIT FLYS !!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE I LEARNED WHAT THE FRUIT FLYS NEED TO EAT , WHAT THEY NEED TO STAY ALIVE THE TYPE OF INVIORNMENT THEY NEED TO LIVE IN .AND  WE ALLSO TALKED ABOUT WHAT MAKES THESE CREATCHER DIE .... I FYOU PUT THEM IN  A BOTTEL AND PUT SOMEE NASTYYY STICKY STUFF AT THE BOTTOM (FORGOT WHAT ITS CALLED) BUT ITS LIKE A YELLOWISH WHITE COLOR . AND IF THE FRUIT FLY TOUCHES THE STICKY STUFF THEN DHERE GOING TO DIE .

this week in science (no impact man)

THIS week in science we watched a movie about the impact man and how a man ,his wife and his daughter went recycling around there house and around their neighbor hood . also how their trying to make a world a better place and a better enviorment for them .

THE impact man project went very well for him unlike his wife she was kinduf going crazy about the whole sitchuation , they throw the t.v away and everything . he was really liken the whole recycle thing but she looked stressed out like she really didn't want to do it and she didn't want to say nothing because her husband was interested and her daughter even liked the idea.

MY reactions when i was watching this film . i was VERY shocked when i saw them throw their t.v away and how they eat because i eat very different from them i don't really look to see if the food is healthy or not but they acually went looking for organic foods around their area .

post 10this week in science fruit fly dyo part 1

this week in science we made observations on our spider . we made a chart graphing and seeing how many fruit fly's will dye each day . and witch fruit fly is the male and the female the male has a darker bottom and the female has a lighter bottom  .

this week in science i learned that spiders self deffence to pertect there self's is to vibrate and shake around very wildly

this week in science

This week in science we are learning about habitats and learning how fruite flys eat and how can you tell witch fruite fly is male or female .
i learned that the male has the darker bottom  and the female has the lighter bottom also the male is way bigger then the female . one of my teachers told me ALL fruite flys dont fly ! i dont know how thats possible because isn't  that why their called fruite flys ?

i have a question .....

How does fruite flys sleep ? , on there back or on there stomache? how do they have kids ? ! Humm i just wonder ! and why does fruite flys only come out when its summer ? or when its really hot ?

Thats what i learned (:

Post 7: This Week in Science (Ecosystems)

Paragraph 1: What did you DO these last 2 weeks in science? (6 points)
these last 2 weeks in science i learned about the food chains and what animals eats what animals
Paragraph 2: What did you LEARN these last 2 weeks in science? (6 points)
these 2 weeks in science i learned what animals eats what animals and what insects eat what and what do these insects need to stay alive what kind of habbittats they have
Paragraph 3: What are you still UNSURE of or CURIOUS about? (6 points)
 nothing (:

this week in science we are playing with cards and making food chains to figure out what animals need to keep save save in a good shelter to keep them living long .

we learned what animals eats what animals and what they need to survive and how they capture there predator and where they sleep at and we also learned how animals get away from there predator frogs can hop really far from tree to tree snakes  can get away by crawling away and some animals bark , or so sighns by getting there family to protect them so there pray could leave them alone most animals swallow there predator real fast they just swallow them up in one  !

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

This week in science we been working food chains and seeing what animal eats whats animals and there habbitats .

we been learning the different shelter these animals need to stay alive !

First Impressions

My first impression when i saw the frog i thought it was discusting  ,nasty and grows . one thing i didnt know was they give you warts when you touch a frog . that's warmful and seemed painful . because they eat nasty bugs insects that stays on trees over night and stuff
i love frogs though but i think there just ugly looking . one thing i really like about the frogs are they can hop from leaf to leaf , they can hop really really far  <3

This Week in Science

In science this week i am disectin frogs , seeing how there insides look and testing to find out rather if the frog is a male or a female to figure that out  ; you  would have to chop the frog up look inside the body and see what your looking for
It smells really bad but yll get used to it (:

What i learned in science this week is how to disect frogs !
This picture shows my classmate dissecting a frog. I chose this picture because it's the best one. !

This picture shows my classmate chopin the frog up trying to figure out if the frog is a boy or girl ..

The frog's face sliced open see all the insides grows.

This picture is showing one of my classmates sticking something pointy in the frogs mouth And some YUCK stuff came out
This picture is showing  the frog laying down on his back (dorsal side) with his mouth open. with his toung sticking out I chose this picture because he has long feet.

First Impressions

Write a paragraph about your thoughts and feelings about frogs and blogs.
