post 12 this week in science (daphnia and introduced species)

This week in science we were invited from our class to go on the BioBus. There, we looked at one creature that was in a little bottle with liquid in it. Then the teacher took the creature out of the bottle and layed it on a white sheet of paper. We counted the heart beats. We counted how fast the heart beats in 10 seconds. We saw if the beat would change if we changed the number of seconds we counted the first time.
This week in science we learned where the creatures butt was and how its head is really really small. We also learned how sometimes in 10 seconds the heart makes 10 beats and then maybe the next second the heart beats about 12 or more so the beat changes. The creature can die really fast if it doesn't have water for a long time. It needs water.

This picture shows three Daphnia with eggs in them. I chose this picture because it was interesting because there were three of them and most pictures had only one.
